USA-Iran, Vance: “Israel is dragging us into war”. A rational voice in the White House?
As the Trump administration celebrates the large-scale strike on Iran’s nuclear sites with triumphant rhetoric, at least one voice within the presidential entourage appears to be holding on to a shred of reason. According to a Reuters report, that voice belongs to Vice President J.D. Vance, who, during a phone call with members of the Israeli government, issued a stark warning: “The United States should not be directly involved.”
“Israel is dragging us into war with Iran,” Vance is reported to have said — a rare moment of public dissent from within the administration.
His words stand out as a jarring — or perhaps life-saving — note in a White House increasingly aligned with the aggressive doctrine of “bomb first, talk peace later,” a policy line consistent with that of Joe Biden’s so-called “bloody Democrats.” In a context where escalation seems to trump every attempt at moderation, Vance’s stance opens at least a small window for critical reflection.
It remains unclear who else was present during the call, aside from Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth. But one thing is certain: while Trump and Netanyahu speak of “strength” and “changing history,” someone within the administration is beginning to question whether this path is rapidly leading to an unintended open conflict. And that someone, for now at least, seems to be the one with a grain of common sense.
