Trump: “The end of the war will be decided with Netanyahu”

Donald Trump is opening the door to sharing strategic decision-making with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu regarding the end of the conflict against Iran.

Last Friday, the White House had indicated an expected duration for the conflict of between four and six weeks. However, that timeline quickly dissolved within a few days, and Trump has repeatedly refused to set a precise deadline for the end of operations.

On the front regarding the leadership succession in Iran, the Assembly of Experts announced yesterday the appointment of Mojtaba Khamenei, son of the late Supreme Leader, as the new Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps immediately expressed its support for the designation.

In a separate interview with ABC News, Trump did not mince words regarding the future of the new leader: “He won’t last long without our approval.” He added, “He will have to obtain our green light.”

These words sound like a diktat, reshaping, at least in Washington’s intentions, the future balance of power with Tehran.
