Trump denies upcoming meeting with Putin in Saudi Arabia: “No appointment on the agenda”

U.S. President Donald Trump has ruled out, at least for now, the possibility of a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in mid-May in Saudi Arabia. He made the statement during a press conference at the White House, responding to a question from journalists.

“I don’t think the meeting will happen, but we are having very good conversations. Very, very good,” Trump said, suggesting that diplomatic channels between Washington and Moscow remain open despite the lack of an official appointment.

In recent days, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov also clarified that President Putin has no plans to travel to the Middle East in mid-May. Still, Trump had previously hinted at the possibility of a face-to-face meeting with the Kremlin leader following his visit to the region.

The last direct interaction between Moscow and Washington dates back to April 25, when Putin met with Witkoff for the fourth time this year. According to Kremlin adviser Yury Ushakov, the meeting lasted three hours and took place in a “constructive and very useful” atmosphere.
