“No more Mr. Nice Guy”: Trump warns Iran, tells them to “get smart” on nuclear deal
U.S. President Donald Trump has once again escalated his rhetoric toward Iran, urging Tehran to “get smart” regarding the nuclear dossier. “No more being nice,” he wrote in a message posted on the Truth Social platform, accusing the country of failing to reach an understanding even on non-nuclear agreements.
“Iran can’t get their act together. They don’t know how to sign a non-nuclear deal. They better wake up fast,” Trump declared. The post was accompanied by a provocative image depicting him in a dark suit and sunglasses, armed, against a backdrop of explosions in an Iranian landscape.
These statements come amid intense regional tension. The United States and Israel launched a joint offensive against Iran last February 28, to which Tehran responded with strikes against targets defined as “U.S. interests” in the area, particularly in the Gulf countries.
A ceasefire was reached on April 8 through the mediation of Pakistan, followed by a cycle of negotiations in Islamabad between April 11 and 12, which ended without a definitive agreement.
Subsequently, Trump stated that the truce had been extended at Pakistan’s request, pending a new proposal from the Iranian side. However, the U.S. President has already signaled that he is not inclined to accept the latest plan put forward by Tehran, which proposed reopening the Strait of Hormuz while postponing issues related to the nuclear program to a later stage.
